Gratitude

“Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.”

We love this quote from American author Henry Van Dyke. Stripped of all the stuffing, this is the essence of the holiday we Americans celebrate as Thanksgiving.

For many, this will be a quieter, perhaps more pensive holiday than in years past. Igniting that same magical spark that begins the holiday season may be more challenging.

Prep time is not just for the kitchen. Consider devoting time to getting your mind prepared as well.

It's always a good time to start a daily gratitude journal, however, this week is a particularly powerful time to reflect on your good fortune. But how to start?

Here are a few prompts to get you started.

  • What is one good thing that happened today?
  • What is one good thing that you did for someone else today?
  • What is one good thing that someone did for you today?
  • What is one good thing that you noticed in nature today?
  • What was one good thing that was a blessing in disguise today?
  • What is one good thing that happened in the past?
  • What is one good thing that you are excited about in the future?
The more thankful we are in life, the more life gives us things to be thankful for...one good thing leads to another.

Enjoy the holidays.
